I was pretty excited to see a neat contest idea like this come up, mostly because it distracts me a bit. The World Ends with You contest, w00t! Reading up on the inspiration of Japan and the street culture, it got me all giddy since I've been in a binge to play around with styles. As always, I like doing characters... Not the important ones. I don't like to make major characters, but I like the idea of making completely background characters just because they might be interesting and they might not. I wanted to do a full series of character sheets and scenes in a background style of WEwY using my LA photos as reference, but me traveling a bit has cut down any photoshop time...
INSPIRATION: LA. I just got back from LA, and as I was bumming around in the hotel, I just started sketching a goth girl idea. The history is similar to one I RPed awhile back.
KAZEKO: A girl in her late teens, addicted to graffiti art even at a younger age. Due to the fumes, she has suffered some brain damage that took has placed her in a hospital. While in the hospital, she had met a cockroach in which she called Bugsy. She acts as if she can communicate with Bugsy and doesn't even see the roach as a roach, but as a friend. When released from the hospital, she continues to run around the streets marking up areas with a cockroach tag. Bugsy continues to follow her around. The gist? She's just a kid in the city who likes graffiti.
BUGSY: Is a cockroach. Nothing more. It's not smart, it's not special, it just likes Kazeko because she feeds it.
